In 1926 the young visionary artist, Walter Turnowsky, left Austria for sun-soaked Tel Aviv, taking the cultural riches of Europe to his ancestral homeland, filled with hope for the future.
Now, almost a century later, the name Turnowsky is internationally recognized as a well-respected and established design house, recipient of numerous awards and accolades, with a global following of friends and admirers. The spirit of our founder lives on through our inspired collections of surface design and luxurious paper products, which have brought respect and recognition to his name around the world.
The Turnowsky range includes exquisite greetings cards, gift bags & wrappings, award-winning calendars that are coveted worldwide, luxurious personal stationery and a breathtaking portfolio of surface designs.
What makes Turnowsky designs stand out?
People have told us that our cards, gift wraps and notebooks have ‘leapt out’ at them, their eyes drawn by the exquisite attention to detail and luxurious production that is the hallmark of classic Papyrus style. Ultimately, it is the beauty and quality of designs, which speak to the heart of each special occasion, that inspire people to choose our cards from amongst countless others.
What is the process for creating your designs?
Exceptional designers come to us from diverse artistic disciplines and backgrounds – fine art, graphic design, textiles, ceramics and other objets d’art — bringing a unique breadth of talent and impressive range of techniques to our studio, where trends are shaped from a rich cultural tapestry.
We work with the seasons, producing two major collections a year for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, always with the hope of bringing joy and delight to our customers. For paper products — greetings cards especially — occasions are at the heart of this process: Valentine’s and Mother’s Day, birthday and Christmas, welcoming new babies, expressing thanks or sympathy, they are all part of the circle of life that we encapsulate in charming tokens of love and friendship.

Where do you derive inspiration from?
We have a very experienced and talented team who endeavor to understand local and international artistic movements through major exhibitions and cultural trends. And we must not forget the world of nature! It is something of a cliché, perhaps, for designers to say they are inspired by natural beauty, but that’s because it is a never-ending source of delight that can be translated in countless ways onto surface design.
